Hello!
You are an inspiration! I don't have diabetes, but I do need to loose a lot of weight and take better care of myself! Diabetes does run in the family. You had a very successful year! Congratulations. I am planning on walking a half marathon in October 2009 - The Niagara Falls International Marathon. Good luck on your journey.
Take Care

LOL! Yep...some days it feels more like the other word :) I get that from my Mother-in-law who refers to the road over the dam as the "dam road." Since she never curses, it's pretty funny :)

I love the line "I was going to do the dam walk". I know what you mean walking at the dam, but it's funny when you put it like that! LOL!

I read your posts and hope you are able to get control of this prevalent yet manageable disease. I have many clients, like you, who are Type II diabetic, and with the proper lifestyle changes, they control their blood sugars. I have one client that I am working with who, after some strength training and 28 days of nutritional changes, is insulin free.

If you would like to learn about what my clients experience and read some of the information we have collected, check out our blog...

Thanks...you actually inspired me with your couch to 5k talk. So, I figured if you could do something like that, then maybe I could tackle this gym thing. Yesterday, Jason and I walked 4 miles across the dam here and back. It was pretty cool. I wasn't sure I could do it, but we did it! I actually got in 10,967 steps yesterday too which was cool! And Jason bought me an IPod so I can start using that when I want to go walking by myself. I am psyched!

I try to make sure I only get pedicures at places where they use clean tools (or new tools) and where they clean out the tub in between uses. My doctor suggested one near her office that I am going to try out next week some time. Thanks for the info though...my Mom tried to convince me never to wear flip flops again, but I figure being careful was better than never wearing them! At least for now!

I'm sure you know this (and probably have read this in one of your books!) but be really careful of where you get your pedicures. If you have a small cut on your foot and the person doing your pedicure uses a dirty tub you can get an infection very easily. I thought about this because the last time I got a pedi I saw them put several different people's feet in the same tub and they didn't clean it in between customers. GROSS!

Yep, I like the Byetta. My numbers have dropped a bit more since taking it. The only part I don't like is the injections. Currently, everywhere I inject gets a little bruise, but I am sure eventually it won't do that. But I do believe it's a wonderful drug. I haven't bought into the latest things about the pancreatitis...I mean if you have diabetes you are more at risk for it anyways.
